However, it is also a milestone for me because I have now set foot in and traveled through 50 countries! I know that numbers don’t matter and many travelers choose not to “count countries”, but I have always found that setting a goal pushes me to travel the world. Long ago, I told myself I would see the world. Having traveled to 50 countries I have now been in more than 25% of the … Read More

Things to Do in Lithuania's Capital City

We spent a week in Lithuania and had a wonderful time.  Besides getting off to a rough start (food poisoning, sprained ankle, a drunk old man talking to himself at 3 am in our hostel) we found the capital, Vilnius, to be exceptionally clean, welcoming, and charming. It was great to spend time in a European country that was a little less traveled, read on for our favorite things to do in Vilnius.  General Thoughts Coming from Latvia, we had very mixed thoughts about Lithuania.  Not that Latvia was an unpleasant country. We just found the Latvian people to be … Read More

Riga Latvia

We flew out of Fort Lauderdale Florida after two days at the beach,  convenient you could say, after spending two days sitting on the beach.  We all got on our flight out of the U.S. with a tan. One long connection in Stockholm and we touched down in Riga at night. Slept until midday, after spending the early morning hours of the day awake, jet-lag. Actually, most people we told back home where we were going had no clue where Latvia was, so I’ll start with a little background on the city. Riga is the Capital City of Latvia and … Read More

All You Need to Know About the Schengen Zone

That’s because the Schengen visa is a blessing and a curse and it’s confusing as hell when you are there. Personally, I have abided by all the rules of the Schengen zone.  I have sadly left Europe way too soon because I was on my 90th day of travel, I do this because the fear of … Read More
