prAna Swimwear Top Picks & Why We Love Them

prAna swimwear is one of our go-to lines before a trip. It’s no surprise that new clothes and travel often go together. We shop for new clothes or a swimsuit just before a trip. It’s a great time to find the perfect swimsuit or outfit. Once we know what to add to our suitcase, we head to one of our favorite retailers.

prAna has long been one of our favorite brands for apparel, whether that’s yoga, lifestyle, outdoor, or swimwear. prAna Swimwear stands out as they offer an excellent line of swimsuits and clothes. It’s all an admirable blend of style and performance, with swimsuits as comfortable as they are durable.

So with a bit of support from prAna, we felt it was time to share what we think of their swimwear. Truth be told, we do love it.

Top Picks For prAna Swimwear

Women’s Prana Swimwear

Sun Fun One Piece

This cute one-piece features a high waist and a simple swoop neck for a trendy bathing suit with moderate coverage. I love the white color for a classic, trendy look. The material offers the perfect amount of stretch and support and sits nicely around the waist.

Although it’s a one-piece, the high leg and cheeky butt coverage show off just the right amount. It’s also fully lined and has removable soft cups, so you don’t have to worry about the white becoming transparent. I love this piece!

Ataila Top

I love the Atalia Top’s excellent support, flattering cut, comfort, and eco-friendly materials. It’s a stylish twist on the classic triangle bikini. It’s got a double back strap with a crisscross tie closure and a knotted multi-strapped back with side cutouts that add a trendy touch. The wrap front V-neckline adds some sophistication to it.

I appreciate the moderate bust support and coverage when enjoying water activities, and most importantly, it dries quickly after the fun. Plus, it’s made in a Fair Trade Certified™ Factory and features recycled content, so it’s a sustainable choice.

Ramba Bottom

El Silencio Villa Hot Tub

I love the Ramba bottoms because they provide the perfect coverage for any environment. They’re an excellent active bathing suit bottom, and I’ve worn them surfing, diving, or chasing waterfalls in Costa Rica.

I like them because they are the perfect mix of comfy, cute, and eco-friendly. The bottoms offer full-seat coverage and use a boy-short-inspired cut with a four-way stretch. As a bonus, the eco-friendly material dries super fast after getting wet.

Fernie Beach Pant

Fernie Beach Pant

The Fernie Beach Pant may just be some of my favorite pants of all time. I have a pair in my suitcase for any warm-weather trip. They offer the coverage of pants, but thanks to the lightweight TENCEL™ fabric, they remain breezy and comfortable in hot weather.

They’re versatile as pants and work as a beach cover-up or casual pants, ready to explore a new town or run errands. Best of all, when it comes to travel or working as a beach cover-up, the lightweight material makes them easy to pack in a backpack, tote, or suitcase. If you’re not after pants, they also make a breezy pair of shorts that are as comfortable as cute.

Fernie Jumpsuit

Fernie Jumpsuit

The Fernie Jumpsuit is another excellent piece with the same fantastic material as the Fernie Beach Pants. The high waist is super flattering, and I love the jumpsuit style. It features a texture to the fabric that helps it resist wrinkles, so it resists wrinkles after it’s been stuffed into the bottom of a bag.

It’s a versatile piece I’ve worn everywhere, from farmers’ markets to beach resorts and seaside towns. I’ve been a big fan of jumpsuits and Fernie pants, so the jumpsuit is a match made in heaven.

Men’s prAna Swimwear

prAna Vintage Boardshorts

Men have easy swimsuits as long as they’re appropriately cut and comfortable. I love the comfort and prints of the Vintage Boardshorts for a retro look with modern performance. An excellent fabric moves with the body and offer just the right amount of stretch, UPF protection, and waist adjustment.

We love the graphic prints and colorways. It also nails the right fit with an inseam that falls just above the knee and a scalloped wide hemline. As with most prAna products, it is made primarily with recycled materials.

Heritage Graphic Short Sleeve Tee

Heritage Graphic Short Sleeve Tee

When we’re traveling in foreign countries, we avoid graphic t-shirts for the most part. However, they’re perfectly intertwined with surfing culture and the laid-back vibes at beach destinations.

So the heritage release of prAna’s original t-shirt is a classic graphic choice. We love the sun-washed color! It’s a super comfortable t-shirt made from 100% organic cotton. Nothing says a beach day like a casual graphic t-shirt; it’s the perfect thing to throw on after the beach for fish tacos.

Lost Sol Hoodie

Lost Sol Hoodie - fernie

The Lost Sol Hoodie is one of our favorite articles of clothing at the moment. It is cool enough to wear in the heat but provides excellent UV protection in highly reflective environments like water. It offers superior sun protection for outdoor adventures like kayaking, beach days, or stand-up paddle boarding.

The lightweight hoody is a lifesaver when diving or spending a day out enjoying water sports. We’re aware of sun protection as we spend much time outdoors in reflective environments when we travel.

Metric E-Waist Short

The Metric E-Waist Shorts feature a slightly comfier waistband and a longer inseam. We find the cut a little looser too, which makes for a very comfortable pair of swim trunks. It has an ideal fit and excellent performance thanks to the quick dry moisture-wicking fabric.

Cameron prefers a more extended cut for activities like surfing as he finds his thighs chafing on the handrails while sitting in the water. Don’t mistake them for a baggy fit, as prAna nailed the perfect fit for our lifestyle.

As we expect from prAna, they use a recycled polyester and organic cotton blend for that extra eco-friendly street cred.

Why We Love prAna Swimwear

We like the casual styles from prAna. They do an excellent job of blending the brand around an active lifestyle and casual trends. This means trendy prints and colors with a modern fit.

Clothes are meant for activities and have no problem moving with our bodies for ideal comfort. It shouldn’t be surprising that they’re beloved and worn by climbers and yogis. We love not just their climbing pants but also their curated swimwear line. As swimsuits offer a lot of performance moving with our bodies for water sports.

There aren’t endless styles we must dig through on the site causing decision paralysis. Instead, everything is on trend and balances performance and style. They offer cuts and fits that provide enough protection for activities like surfing but don’t feel overly large. Men’s suits sit just above the knee, while women’s swimsuits are still cheeky.

prAna produces some excellent quality garments and fabrics. This is important for swimwear as it takes a beating in use. We expect swimsuits to handle sand, sun, and saltwater, which are notoriously tough on everything. prAna swimwear fabrics are designed to resist the negative effects of salt and chlorine. They use quality fabrics that easily handle a day at the beach, lake, river, or pool.

We still have some swim trunks and swimsuits from the company that have lasted for years. Even after we’ve put them through the wringer as we traveled worldwide. That means they’ve done everything from waterfall chasing in Bali, diving in the Maldives, beach hopping in Greece, and paddle-boarding in the Canadian Rockies.

They use various synthetic recycled materials, such as polyesters and nylon, in their swimwear line. The material weave is tremendous, with a nice weight, stretch, and feel. It’s tough to find a more comfortable material in swimwear. It’s all quick to dry and comfortable but feels durable enough to slide along a rock into a river for a swim.

prana swimwear online shopping

With such a huge variety of swimsuits to shop these days, we appreciate a company that makes shopping easier. The online shop is easy to navigate and offers free refunds or exchanges (minus an $8 shipping fee). A three-year warranty backs all of their clothes, which includes the prAna swimwear line.

They’re also available in many of our favorite retailers, so we can always try the products if we’re uncertain of the sizing. However, we have always found that the brand runs true to size, so it’s easy to order online confidently. Each style has a nice selection of colors, prints, and colorways, so I find it easy to find my style or match my skin tone.

Brand Ethos

Companies with a brand story and ethos are nothing new, but they do influence our purchase decisions. prAna brand is all about an active lifestyle and sustainability. We appreciate every brand and company that takes the time to assess their impact on our environment, especially ones that center around the outdoors.

We’ve argued for years on this blog that consumers need to vote with their dollars when supporting brands heading in the direction that aligns with their morals. As ardent conservationists and millennials coming to grips with our impact on the environment, every step or product helps.

Sporting prAna’s Fernie Shirt

As sustainability is key to the brand ethos, they ensure all their materials are responsibly sourced. Their clothes also feature awesome materials such as organic cotton, hemp, and recycled synthetic materials.

We’ve ordered online from prAna regularly and always appreciate their shipping practices. They take every step to reduce waste as much as possible. Clothes are sent folded in a small post-consumer recycled envelope with little to no packaging and completely plastic-free. I’ve seen very few companies ship products with a footprint as small as prAana’s online store.
